Abel Mkulama

Program Associate, CEGA

Abel brings his passion for innovation and social change to CEGA: he is a 2021 grad in a Master of Science in Coastal Science and Policy at UC Santa Cruz. During his time there, Abel led a project team to explore the use of drone remote sensing/precision agriculture with smallholder farmers and won the Verizon-Clinton Global Initiative Social Innovation Challenge award. Additionally, Abel led fundraising, construction, and implementation of clean-burning cookstoves in Lilongwe, building upon his graduate capstone project. He previously worked with the Malawi National Youth Network on Climate Change and received a bachelor’s degree in Natural Resources Management in Land and Water at the Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources.
