Janneke Pieters is Assistant Professor in the Development Economics Group at Wageningen University, the Netherlands, and Research Fellow at the Institute for the Study of Labor (IZA). Before moving to Wageningen, Janneke was Research Associate at IZA, and Deputy Program Director for the IZA-DfID program on Growth and Labor Markets in Low Income Countries. Her main research interests are developing country labor markets, inequality, and international trade. Most of her research is on India and Brazil, but she has recently started working on China and a number of sub-Saharan African countries as well. An important theme in her current research is the link between trade liberalization and gender inequality in the labor market.
