Ravindra Ramrattan

Innovations for Poverty Action

Ravindra Ramrattan (1983 – 2013) was the Research Economist at the Financial Sector Deepening Kenya (FSD Kenya) between 2011 and 2013. A native of Trinidad and Tobago, Ravi obtained his master’s in economics at Oxford University and the London School of Economics (LSE). Ravi then joined Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) in Kenya where he tested the impact of cash transfers on low-income sugarcane farmers in Western Kenya. Ravi joined FSD Kenya in 2011 where he was in charge of its growing quantitative research program on households, SME, and digital finance. Ravi’s life, including his promising career, was brutally cut-short during the terrorist attack at Westgate Mall in September 2013.
